What this NC Certified Well Contractor Level B - auger and cable tool only (no rotary) covers
North Carolina certifies well contractors by construction method rather than by well type, through the Well Contractors Certification Commission under NCDHHS. The levels are cumulative: each one includes everything the level below it permits, and the difference between them is which drilling and construction techniques the holder may use. That makes the level the thing to check — a certification that covers pump work does not cover drilling a new well.
Level B covers everything at Level C plus hydrofracturing and all drilling and construction techniques except sonic, air rotary and mud rotary. A Level B contractor can drill, but not by those three methods.
